By sharing data already known to the government, the government can operate more efficiently and improve its services. This means that a citizen or business does not have to submit certain data repeatedly; a single submission is sufficient. To enable the sharing of data, the Dutch government is setting up a System of Basic Registers. Apeldoorn is also working hard on this system.<\/p>\n<p>The municipality of Apeldoorn is (co-)data controller for the following basic registers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BRP (Basic Register of Persons),<\/li>\n<li>BAG (Basic Register of Addresses and Buildings),<\/li>\n<li>WOZ (Property Valuation),<\/li>\n<li>BGT (Basic Register of Large-Scale Topography) and<\/li>\n<li>BRO (Basic Subsurface Register).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The quality of these core registers is crucial, as any errors in the records will have an impact on all the organisations that use this data.<\/p>\n<p>The introduction of the System affects everyone within the local authority \u2013 from management to staff, and beyond. It affects user channels, processes, organisational culture, applications and data.<\/p>\n<h2>The objectives<\/h2>\n<h3>External<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The system ensures that various types of data \u2013 such as information on people, buildings and geology \u2013 can be easily linked. This generates valuable information for disaster response and combating fraud.<\/li>\n<li>Citizens and businesses do not need to provide their details over and over again: enter once, use multiple times<\/li>\n<li>Cost savings through lower management costs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Internal<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The official data can be found in just one place, rather than spread across several separate records.<\/li>\n<li>By linking the records together, the government can always have access to sufficient reliable and up-to-date data at short notice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apeldoorn is developing a system of basic registers.
