These two streams feed into the Apeldoorns Canal. This west-to-east course of the Kayersbeek has been maintained. This section of the stream is ecologically valuable and the area is also used for recreational purposes. It forms part of the network of footpaths in the residential area. In addition, the northern branch has been partially restored, meaning the Kayersbeek has been split. This section of the stream forms part of the Zuiderpark. The stream is also being restored to the north of the railway line. Part of the Kayersbeek has been constructed as part of Haven Centrum and is connected there to the Apeldoorns Canal. Between Zuiderpark and (roughly) the railway line, the Kayersbeek has not been constructed. As a result, the Kayersbeek north of the railway line and near the railway line is currently fed only by diverted rainwater. The project was launched at the request of local residents, who were closely involved in the planning and construction of the stream area. The construction of the Kayersbeek forms part of the redevelopment of Zuiderpark. The Kayersbeek connects the Zwaanspreng with the existing fishing pond. The Zwaanspreng supplies water to the new stretch of the stream. The southern section has been raised, meaning that the Kayersbeek has been constructed above ground level within a small embankment. This was done to ensure a good flow. Further on, the stream runs at ground level. On the northern side of the park, the clean stream water flows into the fishing pond via a small waterfall, which helps to improve the pond\u2019s water quality.<\/p>\n<p>In a few places along the stream, wadis have been created to allow diverted rainwater to infiltrate the ground. This helps to replenish the groundwater. Trees have been planted in a few places, providing shade and serving as resting and nesting places for birds. At the same time, the paths in the park \u2013 which cross the stream in a few places \u2013 have been improved. At Haven Centrum, the Kayersbeek will be incorporated into the design of the public space in the new Kayersbeekhof housing estate between 2018 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The Kayersbeek near Saxion University of Applied Sciences. The section of the Kayersbeek to the north of the railway line collects rainwater that has been diverted from the main watercourse. As there is no groundwater inflow, this section is often dry.<\/p>\n<p>On one side, the stream has a retaining wall featuring distinctive elements. Cattails, a type of reed, are depicted as a motif on the concrete wall. And every few metres, \u2018water inlets\u2019 have been incorporated into the retaining wall. These are openings in the wall through which rainwater from the houses and streets flows into the stream.<\/p>\n<p>The Kayersbeek, north of the railway line, is fed solely by rainwater and is therefore often dry. Rainwater runs off the paving into the stream, which thus functions as a wadi, a kind of water reservoir. The stream area forms part of the green infrastructure of Haven Centrum, helps to keep the area cool and provides space for recreation.
