You only have to come to the town hall to collect the driving licence. Online renewal consists of 4 steps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Review the terms and conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can renew your driving licence online only if you meet these conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You want to renew the driving licence or add one or more categories.<\/li>\n<li>Your current driving licence was issued after 1 October 2006.<\/li>\n<li>You have the DigiD app with a\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.digid.nl\/inlogmethodes\/digid-app\/\">ID check<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.digid.nl\/inlogmethodes\/identiteitsbewijs\/\">log in with identity card or driving licence<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>You have a health certificate from the\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbr.nl\/nl\/rijbewijs-houden\/nl\/gezondheidsverklaring\">CBR<\/a>\u00a0if you need it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Are you applying for a driving licence for the first time? Have you lost your driving licence or want to make an urgent application? Then make an appointment at the counter. You cannot arrange your application online.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Taking a passport photo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You have a passport photo taken at a\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rdw.nl\/particulier\/locatiewijzer\">RDW photographer or photo booth<\/a>. This sends the passport photo and your signature for the driving licence to the RDW. This is done securely and digitally. Within 5 minutes, you will receive an e-mail from RDW. This contains an application code.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3: Apply for a driving licence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apply for your driving licence via the Extend driving licence button above. To do this, you will need the application code you received via your e-mail. At the end of your application, pay the fee using iDeal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4: Retrieve driving licence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will receive an e-mail from RDW 2 working days after your application. This will tell you that your driving licence is ready. You can collect your driving licence without an appointment at the town hall during opening hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note.<\/strong>\u00a0Get your driving licence within 3 months. Do you wait longer? If so, you will have to make a new application.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t  <\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n\t\t  <h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"heading-u1-i2\">\n\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse-u1-i2\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse-u1-i2\">\n\t\t\t  <span class=\"accordion-toggle\"><\/span>Arrange at the counter at city hall\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t  <\/h2>\n\t\t  <div id=\"collapse-u1-i2\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"heading-u1-i2\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-body\">\n\t\t\t  <p>Unable or unwilling to renew or add categories to your driving licence online? You are also welcome at the town hall. For this, you can make an appointment online via the appointment button above. Bring your current driving licence and a passport photograph. You pay the cost of the driving licence directly at the counter. It is better to pay by debit card than in cash.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t  <\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n\t\t  <h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"heading-u1-i3\">\n\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse-u1-i3\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse-u1-i3\">\n\t\t\t  <span class=\"accordion-toggle\"><\/span>First application, discharge or urgency\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t  <\/h2>\n\t\t  <div id=\"collapse-u1-i3\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"heading-u1-i3\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-body\">\n\t\t\t  <p>Did you just get your driving licence? Congratulations! You are welcome at City Hall to apply for your driving licence. This also applies if you have lost your driving licence or wish to make an urgent application. It is not possible to apply online. Do make an appointment before coming by via the appointment button above. Bring a passport photo and also your driving licence if you still have it. You pay the costs directly at the counter. It is better to pay by debit card than in cash.<\/p>\n<h2>Emergency application<\/h2>\n<p>You can apply for a driving licence urgently. If you apply for the driving licence before 2.45pm on a working day, you can collect it the next working day after 9.30am. In exceptional cases, an urgent application takes 2 working days. To apply online, you make an appointment using the button above. You make an appointment for a regular application. At the counter, you indicate that it is an urgent application. An urgent application costs \u20ac39.65 more than a regular application.<\/p>\n<h2>Changing application<\/h2>\n<p>You cannot turn a normal application into an urgent application. You can obtain the <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbr.nl\/nl\/rijden-en-uw-gezondheid\/nl\/gezondheidsverklaring\">Buy and complete health declaration via the CBR website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Driving licence validity<\/h2>\n<p>As you turn 75, you need to be medically examined.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are you between 65 and 70 at the time you apply for your driving licence? Then your renewed driving licence is valid until you are 75.<\/li>\n<li>Are you between 70 and 75 years old when you apply for your driving licence? Then your renewed driving licence will be valid for up to 5 years.<\/li>\n<li>Are you over 75 years old at the time you apply for your driving licence?
