                                Measures taken in response to feedback received at the open evening<\/h2>\r\n

                                1. Speeding \/ speed enforcement (30 km\/h)<\/h3>\n

                                Even at quiet times, drivers tend to drive fast on the Vlijtseweg. The southern section is already a 30 km\/h zone. Following the roadworks, this speed limit will apply as far as Edisonlaan. Between Deventerstraat and Laan van Kerschoten, speed bumps must comply with guidelines for bus routes. Speed bumps beyond Laan van Kerschoten may be made steeper, depending on the bus route.<\/p>\n

                                2. Road safety for cyclists and pedestrians<\/h3>\n

                                At crossings such as the Vlijtsemolen, the Pletterijpad and the Zwitsalpark, the best solution will be assessed on a location-by-location basis. Consideration will also be given to where zebra crossings are needed. The new layout will not eliminate the crowds, but it should reduce the speed of traffic. In phase 2, a decision will be made as to which users may be excluded.<\/p>\n

                                3. Cut-through traffic<\/h3>\n

                                Cut-through traffic often occurs during busy periods or when there are temporary road closures. A permanent solution is difficult to implement, as access must be maintained for services such as parcel delivery and refuse collection. Closing the Vlijtseweg to traffic or introducing one-way traffic on it will only be possible once a suitable alternative is in place.<\/p>\n

                                4. Speed bumps and road narrowings<\/h3>\n

                                Speed bumps will be installed where possible and appropriate. In the southern section, guidelines apply due to the bus route: these speed bumps are lower and longer. The distance between speed bumps must also comply with the guidelines. Unfortunately, there is no space for planters as on Laan van Kerschoten.<\/p>\n

                                5. (Mobile) speed cameras \/ enforcement<\/h3>\n

                                Mobile speed cameras are deployed by the Public Prosecution Service, based on road safety considerations and recorded incidents. The police decide where and when enforcement takes place. No information is currently available regarding the Vlijtseweg.<\/p>\n

                                6. Relocation of bus route \/ redesign of Kanaal Noord<\/h3>\n

                                The current bus route is used by passengers travelling from the station to schools and, in future, to the new swimming pool as well. Relocating the route is therefore not a straightforward option. A different layout for Kanaal Noord is not possible at present, but will be considered in phase 2.<\/p>\n

                                7. Maintenance \/ expansion of green spaces<\/h3>\n

                                Greening is a priority for the municipality of Apeldoorn. Due to the volume of traffic, it is difficult to add more green spaces, particularly in the southern part and on the eastern side of the northern part. On the western side, plans are being considered to green the ecological zone along the Grift.<\/p>\n

                                8. Accessibility for residents \/ businesses<\/h3>\n

                                Under the new arrangements, all homes and businesses will remain virtually as accessible as they are now.<\/p>\n

                                9. Concerns about the waterbed effect<\/h3>\n

                                The redevelopment will have little impact on traffic patterns on Vlijtseweg. The increase in traffic caused by the swimming pool will largely occur outside peak hours. For phase 2, it must be clear how the surrounding area will be developed. Traffic data is already available, so a baseline measurement is not necessary.<\/p>\n

                                10. Request for clear signage and right-of-way situations<\/h3>\n

                                Signage and road markings will comply with the statutory CROW guidelines. An excess of signage can actually cause confusion, so the council is taking a cautious approach in this regard.<\/p>\n

                                11. Side roads on the right<\/h3>\n

                                The current right-of-way arrangements will remain in place. Traffic engineers consider any change to be unsafe.<\/p>\n

                                12. Work in progress<\/h3>\n

                                Work is now focusing on Vlijtseweg. Phase 2 will look at reducing rat-running and car traffic. This will require a viable alternative to the current traffic flow.<\/p>\n

                                13. Use of blind-spot mirrors<\/h3>\n

                                A study is being carried out to determine whether blind-spot mirrors along Vlijtseweg contribute to road safety. The suitability and effectiveness of their use are being assessed on a location-by-location basis.<\/p>\n

                                14. Low-noise asphalt<\/h3>\n

                                Low-noise asphalt has been investigated, but at a speed of 30 km\/h the effect is negligible. For this reason, it will not be used on the Vlijtseweg.<\/p>\n

                                Residents have suggested making Vlijtseweg a one-way street. This is not currently possible due to heavy traffic on the surrounding roads.
