Across Apeldoorn, the council is focusing on replacing the surfacing on residential streets with clinker paving. In De Parken, we are replacing the tarmac and concrete roads with fired clinkers. This has a number of advantages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clinker paving is much easier to repair locally, for example where tree roots have pushed up the paving.<\/li>\n<li>Clinker paving is more sustainable, requires less maintenance and lasts much longer than asphalt paving.<\/li>\n<li>Rainwater drains away more easily into the ground on clinker paving.<\/li>\n<li>Paving \u2013 particularly with fired pavers \u2013 fits in with the neighbourhood\u2019s cultural and historical character.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n<div data-acfblock=\"Tekst\" class=\"section a section--blue e-tekst\">\r\n\t<div class=\"container\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"row justify-content-center elementOnTop\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col article-content__content-custom-1220 editor elementOnTop\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<h2>Phasing<\/h2>\r\n<p>The work will be carried out in phases right up to 2025. The original plan was to complete the work by 2024, but for a number of reasons this has been pushed back slightly. This gives us a little more time for preparation, allows us to better account for the current long lead times for materials, and gives utility companies ample opportunity to replace cables and pipes prior to the redevelopment. The schedule also takes the neighbourhood\u2019s drainage into account. On the\u00a0<a title=\"Phasing map for De Parken\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/faseringskaart-de-parken-2021-2024.jpg\">phasing map<\/a>\u00a0you can view the current schedule and order.<\/p>\n<h3>Sound<\/h3>\n<p>There is also a drawback: cobblestone surfaces tend to be noisier than tarmac. The council therefore only uses cobblestone surfaces on streets designated as 30-km zones. Major through roads such as Regentesselaan, Kerklaan and Meester van Rhemenslaan will retain their tarmac surfacing. Unfortunately, not everyone always adheres to speed limits. Additional measures have been taken in the neighbourhood to reduce speed, such as speed bumps. An added benefit is that they discourage rat-running. Logically, lower speeds and less intensive use of the road have an impact on noise levels.<\/p>\n<p>We also took noise into account when purchasing the paving stones. We opted for angular, straight paving stones. These make less noise than rounded ones.<\/p>\n<h3>Disconnecting rainwater<\/h3>\n<p>When redesigning streets, we also divert rainwater away from the sewer system wherever possible. This is also the case in the Parks. By installing an infiltration sewer, rainwater is channelled into a separate sewer system so that it is gradually absorbed into the groundwater. This is more sustainable, helps to combat drought and also reduces disruption even during heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n<p>The roadworks provide a good opportunity to disconnect the downpipes from your own home from the sewerage system as well. We also have a grant scheme for this. You can drain the rainwater onto the street or collect it in the garden and allow it to seep into the ground. On our <a href=\"\/water-en-natuur\/de-veluwe-begint-in-uw-tuin\/subsidies-en-advies\/regenwater\/\">rainwater page<\/a>\u00a0You can read all about what you can do yourself, including full details on rainwater diversion and the available grants.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n<div data-acfblock=\"Tekst\" class=\"section a section--blue e-tekst\">\r\n\t<div class=\"container\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"row justify-content-center elementOnTop\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col article-content__content-custom-1220 editor elementOnTop\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<h2>We do things differently<\/h2>\r\n<p>In the regeneration of the public space in De Parken, we are going a step further than simply laying new roads. This is a so-called \u2018circular\u2019 project in which materials are reused. For example, the concrete sewerage system and the concrete road surface have been crushed and reused to make circular paving slabs, which have been incorporated into the pavements. The rest of the new infrastructure will also be easily reusable in the future.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n<div data-acfblock=\"Uitklapper-1\" class=\"section section--blue\">\r\n\t<div class=\"container\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"row justify-content-center\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col editor  elementOnTop\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion\" id=\"accordion1\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n\t\t  <h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"heading-u1-i1\">\n\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse-u1-i1\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse-u1-i1\">\n\t\t\t  <span class=\"accordion-toggle\"><\/span>Current work: 2025 and beyond\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t  <\/h2>\n\t\t  <div id=\"collapse-u1-i1\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"heading-u1-i1\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-body\">\n\t\t\t  <p>On 26 September 2024, a residents\u2019 meeting was held regarding the redevelopment of Van Haersma de Withlaan, Burg. Tutein Noltheniuslaan and Laan van Kerschoten (between Vlijtseweg and Generaal van Heutszlaan). We presented the design for these streets and discussed it with local residents. Following this meeting, the design was amended in a number of respects. Tutein Noltheniuslaan, Liander will first need to replace the gas pipes and electricity cables. Unfortunately, Liander is unable to carry out this work in the short term. We therefore do not expect to be able to start the redevelopment of Van Haersma de Withlaan and Burg. Tutein Noltheniuslaan until 2026. We will, however, be carrying out some local maintenance work to ensure the safety of road users. We will be doing this, amongst other places, on Van Haersma de Withlaan between 12 May and 25 May 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Liander also needs to replace a cable on Laan van Kerschoten. As things stand at the moment, we will be able to carry out the resurfacing of the carriageway on Laan van Kerschoten in 2025. The road surface is in such poor condition that we need to tackle this in the short term. We have therefore decided to start this work before Liander begins its project. The cycle path between Laan van Kerschoten and Verzetsstrijderspark will also be replaced in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>We expect to start the initial works in September 2025. We will then complete these in December.
