Under the design, the road will be 6 metres wide and on-road parking will remain permitted, as is currently the case. To improve road safety, raised crossing platforms and several road narrowings will be introduced, featuring greenery and, where possible, trees. In addition, a green strip will be created on the odd-numbered side of the road between Oude Beekbergerweg and Ruys de Beerenbrouckstraat. Pavements will remain on both sides of the road and will have a minimum width of 1.50 metres.<\/p>\n<p>Take a look at the four sketches of the preliminary design and find out what\u2019s changing.<\/p>\n<h3>Sketch sheets 1, 2 and 3<\/h3>\n<p>This is a sketch of 1e Wormenseweg in Apeldoorn, showing what the street is intended to look like in future. It is a preliminary design and is spread over three sheets.<\/p>\n<p>The drawing is a map viewed from above, based on an aerial photograph.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what\u2019s going to change:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The road is being resurfaced with stones instead of tarmac. These stones make less noise.<\/li>\n<li>The pavements are being resurfaced.<\/li>\n<li>There are raised sections at the side streets. These are raised sections of road. The pavement simply continues there.<\/li>\n<li>Special ramp sections will be installed in the pavement for people with disabilities.<\/li>\n<li>New trees and green spaces are to be planted. A cross-section shows what the street looks like if you were to cut through it from the side. Below that are photographs of different tree species. It is a preliminary design.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cross-section A-A\u2019<\/strong><br \/>\nThis profile shows a typical section of road. The carriageway is 6 metres wide and has new, low-noise paving stones. On both sides there is a footpath made of grey paving slabs. The footpath on the left is 1.80 metres wide. The footpath on the right is 2.59 metres wide. Many residents said they were satisfied with the revised design. We have incorporated as many comments and points for consideration as possible from previous consultation sessions. We will discuss the comments raised during the evening with the project team. Where possible, we will incorporate these into the further development of the design. The central location of 1e Wormenseweg was cited as a major advantage. The variety of housing, the width of the street, the village-like character and the 30 km\/h zone were also appreciated. The main areas for improvement related to road safety, traffic congestion, traffic speed, parking, the condition of the road and the lack of green spaces. The local council also saw opportunities to replace the tarmac and sewerage system, improve the traffic situation and add more green spaces.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Preliminary design and response document 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In 2025, the local authority drew up an initial <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/gecomprimeerd-NS-211eWormensewegC07Presentatietekening-Themakaart.pdf\">preliminary design<\/a> for the 1st Wormenseweg. This design was presented to local residents.
