There\u2019s still a real sense of community here. Residents look out for one another. They organise all sorts of things: there\u2019s a thriving community life. However, the group of active volunteers is getting older. Young people could take up the baton. But they often move away because there are few affordable homes. Many houses are bought by people from outside the village. The challenge is to ensure that the village spirit remains strong.<\/p>\n<h2>Sorting things out together<\/h2>\n<p>Fortunately, local residents are rolling up their sleeves and doing their bit to tackle this issue. They are looking at ways to keep local clubs and activities going. It is also important that sufficient facilities remain in place \u2013 such as the school, shops and healthcare services. The local council and other organisations are working hard to support this.<\/p>\n<h2>Living and outdoor spaces<\/h2>\n<p>Together, we are exploring ways to provide more suitable housing. First and foremost, of course, for young people: they are the future of the village. But just as importantly for older people who want to downsize or need more care. There are few suitable homes for them either. We\u2019re also looking at how we can make the village even more attractive and better organised.<\/p>\n<h2>Road safety<\/h2>\n<p>Hoenderloo wants to be a welcoming place, but safety and peace and quiet are also important. Because of the large number of tourists, the roads can sometimes be busy and dangerous. It would help if people came into the village by bike or on foot more often. There are already some great ideas for this.<\/p>\n<h2>Getting started<\/h2>\n<p>Together, we have drawn up a list of what needs to be done to keep Hoenderloo running smoothly. Over the coming period, we will be getting to work on the action points on the agenda.<\/p>\n<h2>Agenda<\/h2>\n<p>Between 2024 and 2034, we will be focusing on five key areas. First and foremost, the character and atmosphere of Hoenderloo. Together, we will ensure that the village remains a friendly and vibrant place. We will also be focusing on the social environment. It is important that everyone enjoys living here, even if they need more care. We are working on traffic management so that everyone can use the streets safely and it does not get too busy. We are looking at outdoor spaces: how can we keep them tidy and attractive? The Heldringput well is also part of the village\u2019s past. We want to keep the trail and the well in good condition. That is why we are discussing what maintenance and other measures are required.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Hoenderloo\u2019s Belang, municipality, SLG, De Hoge Veluwe<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>A lovely village museum<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>De Kleine Arcke is the place to go to hear the story of the village, past and present. More people should know just how beautiful Hoenderloo and the surrounding area are. We\u2019re going to tell people more clearly about this. And we\u2019re also looking into what (new) facilities are needed to support this.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>HZV, leisure operators, the local council, Veluwe organisations, the provincial authorities<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>A sustainable village house with a cosy living room and kitchen<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Lots of people come to the Dorpshuus for activities. For example, for the popular communal lounge. We want to extend that lounge and its kitchen. In fact, the whole building needs to be refurbished and better insulated. That will make it more usable and reduce energy costs. A great deal can be achieved with the help of neighbours, friends and family. But that is not always enough. These are set out in the Environmental Plan. Certain rules are set to change, but not until the future. As a result, residents or businesses are sometimes unable to carry out a building project at this stage. For example, the construction of a care home. We are looking into whether we can apply the rules more flexibly.<\/p>\n<p>There are also different rules within and outside built-up areas. That isn\u2019t always practical. We\u2019re looking into whether that can be changed.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Residents, the local council, Hoenderloo\u2019s Belang<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>Enough homes for all ages<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>More housing is needed in Hoenderloo. We will be working on the following issues:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Owner-occupied properties in the village are now sometimes sold as second homes. Or they stand empty because they have been bought by property dealers. That is not the intention. Stricter rules are to be introduced to address this.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A village residents\u2019 association has a plan to build 15 new homes for young people.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Some older people would like to move to a smaller rented property, but this is difficult. We are looking into ways of making this easier.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Some of the rental properties in the village are currently being let to people from outside Hoenderloo. We are working together to see if the rules can be changed. The aim is for tenants to have a genuine connection with the village. At the moment, many young people are moving away. This is partly because housing is expensive, and partly because there are few local amenities. The school and the childcare centre at IKC Hei &amp; Bos have now been in operation for five years. Pupil numbers have grown significantly, but we need to attract more pupils. The school therefore wishes to expand. But this means there\u2019s a lot of traffic. We want to make it easier to get to the village by bike or on foot. So: better cycle paths and footpaths.
