We held a village evening. We also went door-to-door to talk to people. We looked at data about the area. And we have been in contact with local organisations.<\/p>\n<h2>Providing care<\/h2>\n<p>One thing was immediately clear: most people enjoy living here and want to continue living here. But many residents are getting on in years. They wonder whether there will be any care \u2013 at home or elsewhere \u2013 available for them in the future. After all, the village is quite remote, far from amenities.<\/p>\n<h2>Housing and sustainability<\/h2>\n<p>As Radio Kootwijk is situated in a protected nature reserve, there are other challenges too. For example, the regulations make it difficult to build new houses or to give old buildings a new lease of life. Making homes more sustainable is also complicated. Nevertheless, there are ideas for this, and the village is keen to get started on them.<\/p>\n<h2>Heavy traffic<\/h2>\n<p>And, of course, traffic in and around this area is a cause for concern. People like to come here to have a look around. But that clashes with the tranquillity that is so characteristic of this area. We want to see if there are any smart solutions to this.<\/p>\n<h2>Taking action together<\/h2>\n<p>We have drawn up an agenda for the coming years, setting out the issues we will be tackling together. In doing so, we will keep a close eye on the three core values of this neighbourhood: \u2018Peace, quiet and darkness\u2019. Part of the village is a listed village landscape. And many houses are situated in the woods: not ideal for solar panels. We\u2019re therefore going to look into whether we can generate energy together. For example, with a solar park.
