It is a lively, working-class neighbourhood where relations with neighbours are often very good. At the same time, residents have noticed that the neighbourhood has gone downhill. A growing number of people have little money to spend. In certain areas, it can sometimes be unsettled and untidy, such as near the shopping centre. And, on average, more people here suffer from mental health issues.<\/p>\n<h2>Social cohesion<\/h2>\n<p>Fortunately, a lot is being done to help the neighbourhood get back on its feet. This includes efforts by the Vogelnest community centre. Residents and organisations have plenty of ideas for improving social cohesion.<\/p>\n<h2>Traffic, amenities and safety<\/h2>\n<p>Many people in the neighbourhood are troubled by the lack of parking spaces and speeding drivers. Residents also feel there is a lack of good public transport, particularly to the hospital. And they would like the shopping centre to remain a pleasant place, with a good range of shops.\u00a0Safety is another area of concern. Around Hart van Zuid and in Zuiderpark, people sometimes do not feel safe.<\/p>\n<h2>Living and outdoor spaces<\/h2>\n<p>Many homes are poorly insulated. This means less enjoyment of home life and higher energy bills. And this is despite the fact that some residents are already living in poverty. This has to change. Outdoor spaces also need upgrading. Fortunately, many pavements, streets and play areas are set to be refurbished in the near future. This presents an immediate opportunity to make the neighbourhood greener \u2013 and to tackle the litter problem.<\/p>\n<h2>Working together<\/h2>\n<p>Together with local residents and a range of organisations, we\u2019re going to set to work to make the neighbourhood a little bit nicer. We\u2019ve drawn up a plan setting out the key actions.<\/p>\n<h2>Agenda<\/h2>\n<p>The following areas will receive extra attention in the coming years. First and foremost, we are working to improve the social situation, so that people can continue to live together harmoniously. We are tackling issues relating to traffic and local facilities, such as parking problems. We will be working to improve safety in the neighbourhood. We are also investing time in housing and sustainability, such as improving the insulation of homes. We do this in the *Zuidkrant*, in leaflets and on social media. We\u2019re also looking into whether we can organise more activities for young and old.<\/td>\n<td>Samen055, initiative brokers<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>More peace and quiet in Hart van Zuid<\/td>\n<td>There is sometimes unrest in the Hart van Zuid area. We are going to look into what we can do about this. For example, by focusing more on activities that bring people together.<\/td>\n<td>Samen055, local council, retailers\u2019 association<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Better cooperation between social organisations<\/td>\n<td>A regular consultation forum is to be set up for staff from different organisations. It could stop at the hospital and the shopping centres.<\/td>\n<td>Zuid Doet Samen, the local council, the county council, EBS<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Safe neighbourhood<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>We want to reduce the sense of insecurity in the neighbourhood.
