Emergency shelter Waleweingaarde

The Netherlands does not have enough accommodation places for asylum seekers. That is why temporary solutions are needed. We call this emergency accommodation. In Apeldoorn, the local council is making part of a school building on Waleweingaarde available for this purpose.

The Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) is accommodating up to 240 people at the Waleweingaarde in Apeldoorn. These may be asylum seekers, but may also include status holders who do not yet have a home. The centre opened on 1 June 2026 and will remain in operation until June 2027 at the latest. The COA is responsible for the management and security of the emergency accommodation.
