Moving to Apeldoorn from abroad (immigration)

Are you moving to Apeldoorn from abroad? If so, please report this in person at the reception desk in the town hall within five working days. This can only be done by appointment. You will then be registered in the Basic Register of Persons (BRP). You must also register if you are staying in the Netherlands for at least four months within a six-month period.

You can only register if:

  • You will be living in the Netherlands for at least 4 months over a period of six months;
  • You have an address in Apeldoorn;
  • You have a valid form of identification
  • You are a Dutch national or
    • the nationality of another country in the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.
    • You are a national of another country and hold a residence permit or have applied for one. You must bring your residence permit or proof that you have applied for one (sticker or letter from the IND) with you.

You must come in person to register. Someone else cannot do this on your behalf. If you wish to register together with your partner and/or children, they must therefore also attend the appointment with you. Once you have registered, you will receive a summary of your personal details within four weeks. You will also be issued with your Citizen Service Number (BSN) if you do not already have one.

Take to appointment:

(of all those who come to register)

  • A valid identity document or other document proving your nationality;
  • Tenancy or purchase agreement. If you don’t have one, please provide a completed consent form (pdf, 752 kB) and a copy of the identity document of the person giving consent.
  • If you were born abroad: a birth certificate.

Where applicable:

  • Other original documents from abroad, such as a marriage certificate, a divorce certificate or a document proving that the marriage has been dissolved due to death. Please see the page on this subject Submitting and registering documents
  • If you are from Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Aruba or the municipalities of Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba: proof of deregistration (PIVA-PL).
  • Other documents relating to your personal circumstances.
  • If you have lived in the Netherlands before: your BSN.

You will receive written confirmation of your registration within two weeks.

Registration in the Basic Register of Persons (BRP) is free of charge.
