Sometimes you may need a certified copy of a Dutch travel document (passport or identity card), driving licence or contract. This is a statement confirming that the copy of the document looks exactly the same as the original.
You can have the following documents certified:
- Dutch passport or identity card
- Dutch driving licence
- Contract (such as a tenancy or purchase agreement, for example)
You cannot have a certified copy made of documents registered in someone else’s name.
Document from another country
Do you need a certified copy of an identity document issued by another country? If so, please contact that country’s embassy or consulate. You can also visit a notary to have these identity documents or other documents certified.

Certification is not available for diplomas or certificates. For these, please contact:
- The institution that issued the diplomas or certificates
