The Emergency Fund is not intended for paying off debts.

You can apply to the Emergency Fund if:

  • you find yourself in financial difficulties due to unexpected costs. You could not have known in advance that you would face these costs.
  • you do not have the money to pay the costs. Nor have you been able to set aside any money for this.
  • the financial difficulties are not due to your own behaviour (no culpable conduct).
  • you cannot obtain money through another scheme, such as special assistance or a loan. You must try this first.
  • you live in the municipality of Apeldoorn and are registered there.
  • you have not applied to the Emergency Fund in the past year. This is because you are only allowed to apply once every 12 months.

The application for and award of a reimbursement involves a number of steps:

  1. Please complete the application form online (Please note: Do ensure you include the required documents with your application, as we need these to assess your application).
  2. An advisory committee will assess your application. The advisory committee consists of staff from the local authority and staff from community organisations. The advisory committee makes a recommendation to the mayor and councillors. They will then make a decision on your application. You will usually be notified of the decision within two weeks.
