If you wish to report a found or lost bicycle or scooter, please do so via the ‘Zogemeld’ app. Reports of lost and found bicycles submitted via verlorenofgevonden.nl will no longer be registered as of 1 May 2026.
Have you found an item in Apeldoorn and don’t know who the owner is? If so, there are two ways to report this to the local council:
Online
You can the object Lost and Found website Report it yourself. The item will then be published on this website, which increases the chances of the owner being able to find it. Your contact details will never be published on this website.
Town Hall
Please hand in the item at the reception desk in the Town Hall (Marktplein 1). You do not need to make an appointment. The member of staff will record the details of the item and, if you wish, your personal details.
Depending on its value, the local authority will hold onto lost property for either 3 months or 1 year. If you keep the item at home, you must keep it for 1 year. You may be able to claim ownership of it.
I have found an identity document, passport or driving licence
You must always hand in any passports, identity cards and driving licences you find to the local council. You must never keep these documents at home; you can hand them in at the reception desk at the Town Hall (Marktplein 1). Alternatively, you can post them in the council’s postbox (you’ll find this postbox by the Deventerstraat entrance).
You may also send the documents by post to Apeldoorn Town Council, Freepost 56, for the attention of the KCC department, 7300 WB Apeldoorn. If you find a foreign identity document or residence permit, you can also hand it in to the municipality. The municipality will forward it to the relevant authorities.
If you have lost something, you can on the Lost and Found website Search for your lost item. If your lost item is listed on this website, you can visit the Town Hall reception without an appointment. This is possible from Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 17:00. Alternatively, you can call 14 055 to check whether you are the owner.
Please bring the following with you to the Town Hall:
- a valid form of identification
- We may ask for proof of ownership or for specific details.
Can’t find your lost item on the list? Keep the lost and found website Keep an eye on it for a while, as lost property is sometimes handed in to the local council some time later.
I need a certificate of loss
Have you lost something and do you need a report of loss, for example for your insurance? If so, please report the item on the lost and found website . You will receive confirmation of this report by email. You can submit this email as proof.
Theft
Do you think your item has been stolen? Always report it to the police. You can do this online by filing a report on the police website or by contacting the police on 0900 8844.
We cannot return a lost passport or identity card to you. This is because your document may have been used by someone else after you lost it. To prevent any misuse, we always invalidate the document immediately.
If you have lost such a document, please report it as soon as possible. You can do this online (using DigiD) or make an appointment. Further information is provided below.

For residence permits, you must contact the IND. For foreign travel documents, you must contact your country’s embassy or consulate.
Have you lost your driving licence? If so, please report this to the RDW. You may be able to get your lost driving licence back.
Below is a list of lost property that has not been handed in to the local council, along with details of where you might be able to retrieve these items.
Bicycle lost
If you have lost your bike, it may be at our bike depot. All found bikes held at the bike depot are registered on the Lost and Found website. You can search for your bike on this website. It can sometimes take up to four weeks for a bike to arrive at the bike depot. We recommend that you keep an eye on this website for a few weeks.
If you suspect that your bike has been stolen, you should always report it to the police. You can do this online at the police website or by contacting the police on 0900 8844. The bicycle depot checks the frame number of all bicycles they collect. This ensures that stolen and registered bicycles are returned to their owners.
If you have found your bike at the lost and found website, please contact the bicycle depot on 14 055.

Have you lost something on the bus? If so, please check the websites of RRReis, EBS-ov or Hermes.
Occasionally, items lost on trains or buses do end up with the local council. We recommend that you also visit the website of lost or found to keep an eye on.
