The Municipal Executive is responsible for naming public spaces. This includes naming new districts, neighbourhoods, streets, squares, bridges and viaducts, as well as changing or withdrawing a name where necessary.

There are two conditions:

  1. The name fits in with the street names in the neighbourhood
  2. As regards individuals, only deceased persons are eligible. The only exceptions are members of the Royal Family or persons of great national or international significance. If the person in question is deceased, they must have died at least 10 years ago.
