Bicycle parking

There is a ban on cycling in the city centre at certain times. The aim is to prevent nuisance caused by cyclists. In the ‘Shopping’ zone, you are permitted to cycle in the pedestrian zone after the shops have closed until 11:00 the following morning. Shops close at 6.00 pm from Monday to Sunday and at 9.00 pm on Thursdays (late-night shopping). In the ‘Nightlife’ zone, cycling is permitted after the bars and restaurants close at 5.00 am until 11.00 am the following morning. After 11.00, you must walk through the city with your bike by your side. You can park your bike or scooter in one of the bike sheds, on the bike racks, or in the designated bike or scooter parking bays. This ensures your bike does not cause any nuisance and helps us all keep the city accessible.

You may park your bike outside a shop until 11.00 at the latest. This makes it easy to pop in for a quick errand. After 11.00 and until the shops close (Monday to Sunday at 18.00 and on Thursdays only at 21.00), you are no longer allowed to park your bike outside the designated spaces and racks. In that case, you can park your bike or scooter in one of the cycle sheds, on the bike racks, or in the bike or scooter parking bays. The bike parking bays are marked on the street with white borders.

There’s always a cycle park nearby. There are six covered cycle parks in various locations in the city centre where you can park your bike easily and for free. Using the FietsPlek app, you can see exactly how many spaces are left in each cycle park. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play.

You can park your moped or scooter at the following locations:

• ACEC Car Park
• Museumpassage, opposite the ACEC entrance.
  You can park your scooter or moped outdoors here in designated spaces.
• Hoofdstraat Zuid, near McDonald’s.
  You can park your scooter or moped outdoors here in designated spaces.
• Deventerstraat, opposite the town hall.
  You can park your scooter or moped outside here in a designated space.

Electric bike

Electric bikes can be charged at the ACEC, Hofstraat, Mariastraat, Marktplein and Paslaan cycle parks.

Electric scooters

Electric scooters can be charged at the Hofstraat, Mariastraat, Marktplein and Paslaan car parks.

You can park your cargo bike, fat bike, bike with a crate, tricycle or other large bikes at the ACEC, Hofstraat, Mariastraat, Marktplein and Paslaan cycle parks.

Do you have difficulty walking? Or is there a medical reason why you are unable to walk to a cycle shed or cycle parking space? If so, you can collect a cycle parking exemption from the customer reception desk at the town hall.

You do not need to apply for an exemption for a mobility scooter, tricycle or balance bike.

Have you lost your bike, and was it parked outside a cycle shed, in a designated space (these are marked with white borders) or on a rack in Apeldoorn? If so, your bike may have been removed and taken to the cycle depot. In that case, you may be able to collect your bike.

Want to know if your bike has been taken to the bike depot? Check at lostandfound.nl and search for your bike in the system. You’ll see a list with photos and descriptions of the removed bikes that match your search criteria. Have you found your bike? If so, you can arrange to collect it.

The collection fee is €25.00. You can only pay by debit card.

Please bring the following with you when you visit:

• A valid identity document
• Proof of ownership (bike key or proof of purchase showing the frame number). You could also consider carrying proof of ownership in your pannier.
