Report a divorce

You can only register a divorce if you are in possession of a divorce decree.

Make an appointment online

You will need the following for your appointment:

• Valid proof of identity
• Divorce order issued by the court
• Deed of acquiescence: this is an agreement between both parties that they will not lodge an appeal against the divorce decree. A request for registration must also be submitted by both parties

Was your marriage solemnised abroad, but the divorce granted in the Netherlands?

You should then register the divorce decree with the registrar at The Hague City Council. Your foreign marriage certificate must also be registered here. Further information is available on The Hague City Council’s website.the website of The Hague City Council.

You can have your foreign court order or deed registered with your local council.
