Greener more quickly when it rains
Cycling in the rain isn’t anyone’s idea of fun. It’s even more annoying when you’re waiting at a red light whilst it’s raining, or as you watch those dark clouds drawing ever closer. That’s why, in Apeldoorn, we’re increasingly using smart traffic lights. These are traffic lights that receive weather information from the KNMI. Is it raining or is a shower on the way? If so, cyclists won’t have to wait as long.

Crossing the road more safely
At some junctions, you need eyes in the back of your head to get a proper overview of the situation. The entrance and exit to Centraal Beheer on Laan van Malkenschoten is one such junction. Centraal Beheer and the local council were keen to make this situation safer. That is why Bikescout has been installed in the road: an ingenious system that uses LED lights in the road surface to warn of approaching cyclists.
