In the Management and Maintenance department, 400 colleagues are working to shape the Apeldoorn of tomorrow. As well as keeping outdoor spaces tidy and safe, we’re also working on issues such as climate adaptation and circularity. Over 80% of our colleagues work outdoors, for example in green spaces or on the roads. Together, we strive for the best and most attractive results. Would you like to contribute to this too? Marcel, assistant foreman: “I feel like a free man working for Apeldoorn Council. I’m given a great deal of trust in my work, and I get a lot in return – not just from residents, but also from the staff I supervise. Now that I work for the council, I no longer have to travel all over the country from early in the morning until late at night. I now work in a lovely, green town close to home. That means a great deal to me.’
Sebastiaan, assistant foreman: “I worked in an office for 13 years before I started a BBL apprenticeship with Apeldoorn Council. I was able to learn the trade and work at the same time – which is, of course, perfect! Now I spend a lot of time outdoors, get to visit all over Apeldoorn and do work that benefits the local residents. It’s very rewarding to leave the area safe and looking its best. I do this together with a close-knit and friendly team.”
