Senior Mobility Adviser

As a senior mobility adviser, you’ll be the one keeping an eye on the big picture and helping colleagues make the right choices.

You’ll help shape the thinking on major mobility issues, whilst also getting to grips with specific situations on the ground. You’ll switch between strategic issues, practical solutions and working with residents and colleagues. In this way, you’ll make a direct contribution to Apeldoorn’s accessibility, safety and quality of life.

Here’s what you’ll be doing
As a senior mobility adviser, you will work on a wide range of mobility issues within the municipality of Apeldoorn. You will advise on traffic and mobility in spatial planning projects, whilst ensuring compliance with policy and technical planning principles.You will help devise solutions to traffic issues, assess plans against legislation and regulations, and consult with project teams, colleagues and residents. In doing so, you will be able to translate complex issues into clear advice and practical solutions.

Examples of projects you might work on include: 

• traffic flow in Zuidbroek, including opening up the bus lane;
• urban regeneration projects, such as Koninginnelaan and various residential streets in Kerschoten, for example in conjunction with major maintenance work or the installation of the district heating network;
• possibly also the updating of the built-up area boundaries, depending on your experience.

In this role, you’ll constantly be switching between focusing on the details and maintaining an overview. You’ll be closely involved in traffic engineering issues, whilst also ensuring that work is allocated effectively and that priorities are clear. You’ll know what expertise is required and bring the right people together to drive issues forward.

You will also lead the mobility tactics team. This team is responsible for translating mobility policy into concrete solutions in public spaces. Together, you will ensure that plans are feasible and align with Apeldoorn’s ambitions. In doing so, you will collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines, such as urban planning, operations, project management and design. You will also involve residents and other stakeholders in the planning process, for example during information evenings or public consultation processes.

You will be working within the Spatial Design and Implementation department. • A contract for 32–36 hours per week for one year, with the prospect of a permanent role;
• A salary of up to €5,624 gross per month (scale 10) based on a 36-hour week.

Things to bring with you
You are an experienced transport engineer who maintains a broad overview and enjoys working with colleagues from different disciplines. You understand how mobility issues are linked to spatial development and know how to win others over to your recommendations. You switch easily between strategic, tactical and operational levels and know when to delve deeper into the details and when to maintain the big picture.

In addition, you have:

• higher vocational education (HBO) level of working and thinking;
• substantial experience in the field of traffic or mobility, for example as a traffic engineer, traffic consultant, mobility consultant, senior mobility consultant or traffic/transport/mobility generalist.
