Promoting the circular economy

We do this by encouraging longer use, reuse, repair and refurbishment (restoring items for reuse). These are important steps in the circular economy. We are working on this at both a scientific and a practical level. For example, by developing business models and data platforms, but also by improving collection schemes and awareness campaigns. If a product lasts longer, that is better for the environment and for future generations. After all, you don’t need materials, transport or energy to manufacture and transport a new product.

European and local cooperation

The municipality of Apeldoorn is a partner in this European project. Locally, we work closely with Foenix and Circulus. We do this under the guidance of Saxion University of Applied Sciences, which is leading the project.

The E6 project brings together 19 organisations from across north-western Europe. These include local authorities, universities and research institutes from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Ireland and France.
