Sustainability Service for Listed Buildings

In Apeldoorn, we want to preserve our heritage whilst making it more sustainable. Making listed buildings and protected properties more sustainable requires a different approach to that used for non-listed buildings. That is why Apeldoorn City Council is keen to work with you to explore sustainability options. An adviser will visit you to discuss this.

By 2050, all buildings in Apeldoorn will be phased out of natural gas and switch to sustainable heating. This will not happen all at once. We are doing this step by step. Some neighbourhoods will be next in line before others to become natural gas-free and sustainable. However, sustainability measures are more challenging for listed and protected buildings than for non-listed ones. The council therefore wants to work with you to find ways to make your property more sustainable without damaging our heritage.

Owners of listed buildings, landmark or characteristic properties, and properties in conservation areas can request a free consultation. It is an informal ‘kitchen table’ discussion. An adviser will visit you for this.

During the visit, we will inspect your property and provide tailored advice. You will receive practical tips that are easy to implement and/or an indication of ‘more significant’ improvements that could be made to your property. You will also receive advice on the use of various insulation methods and materials. A visit to the Energiepunt at Paslaan 1 is also recommended if you wish to make your property more sustainable.

We’d be happy to help! Please register for the sustainability service using the form.

This scheme is a service – you cannot apply for a grant for sustainability measures through this scheme. To be eligible for this service, the following conditions apply:

  • You have not used this service at all this year.

Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. We will contact you to arrange an appointment to visit your premises. Appointments are scheduled on working days during office hours and last approximately one and a half hours.
