Frequently asked questions about bicycle parking

Guided by the vision of ‘Apeldoorn as a City Park’, we are working to create a welcoming, green and accessible city centre. We are seeking a balance between promoting cycling and ensuring an accessible public space for pedestrians, shoppers and children at play. This means that during shopping hours, we would prefer not to see bicycles blocking shop entrances. Or people cycling quickly through the pedestrian area or past outdoor seating areas during busy periods.

You are permitted to cycle in the ‘Shopping’ pedestrian zone until 11:00 am, and after the shops have closed. This applies from Monday to Sunday until 6:00 pm and on Thursdays (late-night shopping) after 9:00 pm.

Cycling is permitted in the ‘Uitgaan’ pedestrian zone between 5 am and 11 am.

Collection costs €25.00 (debit card only). Please bring valid ID and proof of ownership (such as a bike key, proof of purchase showing the frame number, or evidence of ownership in your pannier).

We remove bicycles parked in cycle parking bays, racks or shelters if they have been left in the same spot for more than 21 consecutive days. We also refer to these as ‘abandoned bicycles’.

These are bikes that have been abandoned or, in some cases, stolen. If we think a parked bike is no longer in use, we mark it with a label. This allows us to track whether a bike has been there for more than 21 days. On the website lostandfound.nl You can check whether your bike has been taken to our bike depot in Apeldoorn. You can collect your bike from there by appointment, subject to a fee of €25.

Scooters will not be removed. However, owners will be fined if they are parked outside the designated storage areas or parking bays. This fine of €75 plus €9 in administration fees will be sent to you.

The cost of collecting a bicycle that we have collected from the depot is €0.00 for children up to the age of 12. Young people aged 12 to 16 pay €12.50, and those aged 16 and over pay €25.00.
