The Environmental Vision sets out how our beautiful Apeldoorn – comprising the town, its villages and the surrounding countryside – will develop in the coming years. The vision answers questions such as: What direction do we want Apeldoorn to take? And what is needed to ensure it remains a special municipality with unique qualities? The timeframe for this vision is 2040.

In some respects, the Environmental Vision is very specific. For example, when it comes to areas we have in mind for housing development. In other respects, it sets out ambitions that we will develop in more detail at a later stage. This vision for the future is not a blueprint setting out exactly what will change at street level, but it does describe the framework for future developments. All local authorities in the Netherlands draw up an Environmental Vision. This is stipulated in the Environment Act.
