Are you still working hard, or are you able to take it a bit easier these weeks?
I hope the latter is the case for you, but of course that’s not possible for everyone. In the healthcare sector, the police and the fire service, the food industry and a number of other sectors, life goes on as normal – these are the ‘essential roles’, as we called them during the coronavirus pandemic, do you remember?
Of course, these are professions on which society relies heavily. We cannot do without them. But even if you work in one of those professions, I hope that you can still take some time off at some point. To have a bit of a rest. To sit back and relax for a while. And to spend time with the people who are important to you. Because that is valuable, for everyone.
A bit of a break. That’s absolutely essential from time to time, to recharge your batteries. And perhaps also to take a moment to reflect on the past year and the year ahead. What went well? What didn’t go so well? What would you like to do differently next year? What are you happy with?
And, perhaps the most important question of all: which people and which activities deserve your attention? Who and what are important to you? And to whom are you important? And are you managing to devote enough time and attention to them?
But above all: make sure you have a lovely time! Whether it’s sitting round the table together, heading out for a Christmas walk or attending a lovely Christmas celebration.
I wish you and your loved ones a very happy, peaceful and cosy festive season. And a happy and healthy 2026.
