Greening Paslaan

We are working towards a green, liveable and climate-resilient city. That is why we are going to significantly increase the amount of greenery along Paslaan in the coming period. We are greening Paslaan to provide the existing trees with a better growing environment, so that we can keep them healthy for longer. In addition, this greening initiative will enable us to collect more rainwater and make a positive contribution to biodiversity. What’s going to change?

In the new layout, there will be much more space for greenery along the street. On-street parking along the Paslaan will be phased out. The current parking bays will be removed and transformed into green spaces (green areas). Not only will this look more attractive, but the extra space for trees and plants will also provide natural cooling in the summer.

Not all parking spaces will be removed; we are taking accessibility and access for business owners into account. The following spaces will remain (some in slightly different locations):

  • Two disabled parking spaces.
  • The existing loading and unloading area.

Where are we at now?

We are currently in the preparatory phase, known as the tendering process. We are looking for the right contractors to carry out the civil engineering work (such as breaking up the paving stones and preparing the ground) and to draw up an attractive, suitable planting scheme.

Planning

We are aiming to make the street greener as soon as possible. The current schedule is as follows:

  • Tender for civil engineering works and planting scheme

    August 2026

  • The work has been finalised and the planting is complete

    March 2027
