Apeldoorn’s city centre is facing a problem of vacant premises. This includes the Hoofdstraat. That is why, under the new vision, this area will be given a mixed-use function, making it a wonderful place to live, work, shop and enjoy leisure activities. The idea behind the long Parkstraat is that this route connects various landmarks. In this way, we are reintegrating recognisable, distinctive locations in the city centre into the Hoofdstraat. Together, these landmarks represent Apeldoorn’s unique character, setting us apart from other cities.

Parkstraat runs from Stationsplein to Paleis het Loo, i.e. Hoofdstraat and Loolaan. In 2022, we will begin preparations for Parkstraat-Zuid. By this we mean Hoofdstraat from Stationsplein to the Oranjerie.

We will be working on the Parkstraat project over the next 15 years. The Parkstraat-Zuid sub-project will take at least 5 years.

We are committed to ensuring the city centre remains accessible; we also take this into account as a key principle and prerequisite when planning projects. We coordinate the works as effectively as possible to minimise disruption and maintain accessibility as much as possible.
