Klein Hattem

Work is being carried out on Klein Hattem from Derk Kamphuisweg to Bouwhofweg. The road will have a slightly narrower carriageway than at present. It will be reduced by half a metre to a full metre. This will bring the carriageway width here to 5 metres, including the gutters. This will give the gravel verge and the trees a little more space. It is not possible to plant new trees, as there are too many cables and pipes in the verge. We are replacing the current undulating speed bumps with standard 30 km/h speed bumps. There will be two of these between the junction platforms at the start and end of the road.

This is a cross-section of a tree-lined street between two rows of houses. The drawing shows two large trees whose canopies meet above the street, with a distance of approximately 10.1 m between their trunks. Beneath this lies a 5-metre-wide carriageway, including a central drainage channel (a shallow drainage channel in the middle), with a car, a cyclist and a pedestrian drawn in to illustrate the dimensions. On either side of the carriageway, beneath the tree canopies, are gravel strips approximately 2.5 m and 2.6 m wide respectively. At the foot of the trees are low hedges or shrubs, and on both sides of the profile, grey silhouettes of houses with pitched roofs can be seen, indicating the buildings along the street.
