Object Manual for the Large-Scale Topography Basic Register

The Large-Scale Topography Base Register (BGT) is set to become the definitive detailed large-scale base map (digital map) for the whole of the Netherlands. All physical features in the Netherlands, such as buildings, roads, water bodies and green spaces, are unambiguously recorded in the BGT.

Specific characteristics can be linked to each object. The data providers supply these objects in accordance with standards. Some data providers record more detailed information: the IMGeo layer. This provides detailed information about the object. For example, is a road made of tarmac or cobblestones? And are there speed bumps or not? By doing this in accordance with standards, this data can be reused in various work processes.

A separate information sheet is provided for each object, setting out how the object will be registered and maintained in the BGT application. The attached photograph shows the object’s boundaries. For each object, the information sheet includes a CODE / REFERENCE POINT. This shows which line/boundary code is used, followed by the identifying reference point.
