The local authority will lay a service pipe from the main sewer up to 0.5 metres beyond your property boundary. It is your responsibility to connect this municipal sewer to the service pipe for your house or premises using a drain connection point.
You can apply for a sewer connection. Your application must always include:
- Site plan showing the desired location of the sewer connection
It takes around 4 weeks to process your application. We will let you know as soon as possible when we will be able to connect you.
The local authority will draw up an estimate of the installation costs and send you a letter setting these out. You should then sign this to confirm your agreement and return it. Once you have given your written approval, the local authority will have a new sewer connection installed up to approximately 0.50m inside your plot boundary. We will invoice you for the actual costs at a later date.
Rainwater must be allowed to infiltrate on the property itself or be drained via ground level into a verge ditch.
We determine the cost of installing a sewer connection on the basis of:
- the distance between the property and the main sewer (fixed prices per metre)
- the type of surfacing
- the excavation and repair work
- the materials used
- groundwater level
- the volume of administrative tasks.
