Apeldoorn City Council is proud of its young residents who go out of their way to help others or support Apeldoorn. For example, by volunteering over a long period, performing a heroic act or organising a fundraiser for a good cause. The Municipality of Apeldoorn would like to recognise their achievements and has therefore been presenting an annual youth award to Apeldoorn’s young heroes every year since 2018.
Young people from Apeldoorn may be eligible for a youth award if they:
- who have shown, or continue to show, exceptional dedication to another person or to the Apeldoorn community;
- and/or have performed a heroic deed;
- and/or have shown good initiative;
What other criteria must the young hero meet?
- The young hero lives in Apeldoorn;
- At the time of performing the exceptional act, the young hero is between 0 and 20 years old;
- The event took place in the year prior to the award ceremony;
- When it comes to voluntary work, the selfless and exceptional commitment has not ceased to this day;
- This exceptional achievement was not achieved in a (sporting) competition.
Register as a young hero
Anyone aged 21 or over may nominate a young hero for a youth award. The nomination must be confirmed by two other people (who are not family members).
In the form, you can briefly describe the reason for the nomination. If you wish, you can attach a detailed explanation to your online application.
All entries will be assessed by a panel of experts. The panel will focus on two aspects:
- the uniqueness of the performance;
- the role model for other children and young people.
What happens after I’ve signed up?
The entry will be assessed by a special panel of judges. Following the panel’s deliberations, you will be notified as to whether or not a youth award will be presented.
