Tackling traffic noise is a difficult issue. If the noise is caused by speeding, the police are informed. This may lead to speed enforcement. Usually, there is no need for further investigation or measurements.
The Noise Nuisance Act applies in the Netherlands. This means that traffic noise must remain within certain limits. Any noise measurements are carried out in collaboration with the Veluwe Environmental Agency.
A noise measurement is time-consuming and costly. For this reason, the council only carries out noise measurements if the Veluwe Environmental Agency and the council jointly conclude that this offers clear added value.
