Under the European Services Directive, terrace licences for island terraces are classified as scarce licences. They are considered scarce because several parties may be eligible to use the terrace space, which is limited in terms of physical area. Applying for an outdoor seating licence costs €669.09. You will also pay occupancy tax (a kind of rent) if your terrace is situated on council land or on land that we maintain. The amount of this fee depends on the size of your terrace and the borough in which it is located.
