Passport or identity card lost or stolen

There is no need to report a simple loss to the police. The local authority will declare your document invalid. Even if you find it again, it will no longer be valid; you must then hand in the invalid travel document to us.

Report a missing person

There are two ways to report a missing person:

1. Report online

You can immediately Report the loss of your passport or identity card online (using DigiD). Once you have submitted your notification, you can book an appointment online straight away to apply for a new document.

2. Check in at reception

You can also report the loss at the counter, for example when applying for a new travel document. Please make an appointment to do so.

Theft or robbery

Have you lost your passport or identity card as a result of theft, pickpocketing, a robbery or another crime? In that case, it is indeed advisable to report the incident to the police.
