Perhaps you could make someone else happy with your stones.
Tip: list your paving stones or tiles on Marktplaats. If that doesn’t work, we’ll come and collect them from you.
These stones can be used to fill potholes in roads and pavements, or they can be broken into small pieces to make new concrete blocks. In this way, we reduce the use of raw materials and limit greenhouse gas emissions.
- The Tile Taxi collects tiles only. We do not collect other materials such as wooden decking, gravel, rubble or garden waste.
- When you register, please attach a clear photo of the stones to be collected.
- You are not replacing your old tiles with new tiles and gravel.
- Please place your tiles somewhere that our lorry with a grab can easily reach them. The crane has a reach of about 5 metres. Stack them in your front garden, on your driveway or on the street. Do make sure that your tiles are not in anyone’s way.
- Your tiles will be ready before 7.00 am on the day we visit you.
You can register for the tile collection service again until 8 September. The tile collection service will resume around 21 September. There will then be one more round this year during which you can have your tiles collected. We will announce the exact times on this page.
The weather in the Netherlands is becoming increasingly extreme. Heavy downpours and long periods of heat and drought follow one another. This can lead to flooding and heat stress. This is because our environment consists largely of concrete. All that concrete does not cool down when it is very hot, and does not allow water to pass through when it rains. That rainwater can then overload the sewer system or seep into basements. More greenery helps to combat this.
Put it in the bag!
When rainwater falls on planted ground rather than on paving, it seeps into the ground and does not need to be drained away by the sewer system. This reduces the risk of flooding. Plants and trees also help to cool your garden or patio during hot spells. To prevent flooding, the local council also offers a grant for rainwater diversion. NK Tile-Flipping Championship
You may have already seen something in the media about the NK Tegelwippen. During the National Tile-Flipping Championship, many local authorities across the Netherlands are replacing tiles with greenery. This is to prevent flooding, provide cooling during hot spells, retain water during droughts and increase the living space for plants and animals. You can help Apeldoorn climb the national rankings by reporting your removed paving slabs via the NK Tile Flipping website. This is not a requirement for using the Tegeltaxi.
