There is a ban on fireworks in Apeldoorn on New Year’s Eve. To celebrate the start of the new year together, the council is organising a number of countdown parties. In addition, the council is making funds available to residents so they can ring in the new year together.
Would you like to bake oliebollen together? Or organise your own New Year’s Eve party? Or do you have another great idea altogether? It could be a small neighbourhood initiative, or a large-scale project involving several neighbourhoods. You can apply for a grant from 1 September to 30 November inclusive.
Before applying for a grant, first check whether you need a permit for your project. To do this, visit the Events Licensing page.
Do you need a licence? Make sure you apply for it in good time. How far in advance you need to apply depends on the type of permit. This can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. It is therefore a good idea to apply for the permit at the same time as you apply for your grant.
Please note: You often need a permit if you want to use amplified sound outdoors or close off part of the street.
These are the main conditions:
- The event will take place over the New Year period (31 December 2025 – 1 January 2026)
- This is a festive event designed to encourage residents within the municipality of Apeldoorn to get together.
- It is not just a matter of personal or business interest.
- Others think it’s a good idea too – these could be your neighbours or a local association.
- The activity poses no risk of damage or nuisance.
- The activity is not aimed at providing financial support to a charity.
- For a neighbourhood initiative involving at least 10 households, you will receive a maximum of €2,500. For an initiative that extends beyond the neighbourhood and is open to residents from across the municipality of Apeldoorn, you will receive a maximum of €10,000.
- The subsidy for food and drink is limited to a maximum of €10 per participant. You cannot receive a subsidy for alcoholic drinks.
- For initiatives that have previously been awarded a grant, a maximum grant of 70% will be awarded in the second year. And in the third year, a maximum grant of 40% will be awarded.
- You may submit a maximum of one application per person or organisation per year.
- You are responsible for obtaining any permits you may need (for example, to cordon off the street).
Please note: you must submit your application by 1 December 2026.
