Transport to school for children from Ukraine

Transport for De Vlinder Primary School

At the introductory meeting at De Vlinder, you will be asked how the child gets to school. If there is absolutely no possibility of a parent or another adult taking the child to school, and the distance is more than 4 km, the local authority may sometimes be able to offer a solution.

The school provides the local authority with the child’s name, address and the contact details of both the parents and a Dutch contact person. The local authority checks whether transport can be arranged, ensures that the transport provider receives the information, and includes the child in the route. We do our best to ensure that children can be picked up within 5 working days of registration.

There are a few rules regarding travel to and from school:

• Parents and/or carers must always be contactable by telephone.
• The child must always be ready 10 minutes before the agreed pick-up time. The taxi bus may arrive between 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after the agreed time.
  • o Example: If the agreed pick-up time is 8.00 am, the taxi may arrive between 7.50 and 8.10 am. The child must therefore be ready from 7.50 am.
• If your child does not need to go to school (due to illness or holidays), please let us know in good time so that the taxi driver does not make a wasted journey.
• Please let us know at least one working day in advance if the child will be coming along again, so that they can be included in the route the following day.
• All children are expected to remain seated in the school minibus and to behave politely towards their fellow pupils and the minibus driver.

Secondary school transport (ISK)

ISK pupils make their own way to school. The local authority does not provide transport for this.

An exception is made for pupils who live in the villages around Apeldoorn (such as Uddel or Loenen), do not have a good bus service and whose parent(s) or carer(s) are unable to arrange transport themselves. The school passes on the details of these pupils to the local authority. The local authority will then assess whether transport can be arranged.
