Benefits of a green roof
A green roof has more benefits.
- The air is becoming cleaner. This is because a green roof removes dust particles from the air.
- You’ll spend less on roof maintenance. This is because a green roof lasts longer than a standard roof.
- A green roof will increase the value of your home.
- With lots of green roofs, Apeldoorn is becoming even greener. This creates more opportunities for flora and fauna and improves the quality of life.
How much does it cost?
The cost of installing a green roof is determined by:
- the quality
- the size
- the type of planting.
Please bear in mind that an extensive roof (such as a sedum roof) costs an average of €50 per m². An intensive roof garden costs an average of €120 per m².
Will you need to modify the roof structure (or have it modified) in order to install the green roof? If so, those costs will of course be added on.
How do you look after it?
- A few times a year, remove any seeds that have been blown onto your roof from trees.
- Check from time to time that the rainwater drain is not blocked. Clean it if necessary.
- Water your green roof if there’s been a spell of dry weather.
What do we do?
We believe it is important that you play your part in ‘Groen Doen’. That is why we are happy to help you with this. You can receive a grant towards the installation of a green roof. You can apply for the grant via the page Green roof grant. You can also find out what the conditions are there. For example, which areas of Apeldoorn the grant applies to.
