At the same time, we have received a great many responses over the past few days from residents living near the roundabout in De Maten. Residents have indicated that the disturbances of the past week have led to feelings of fear, insecurity and disruption in the neighbourhood. We realise that this is having an impact on them.
Another demonstration has been announced on social media for this evening at 7.00 pm at the roundabout in De Maten. The demonstration may take place until 8.00 pm. In doing so, we are taking into account the right to demonstrate and the safety of demonstrators, local residents and road users. The roundabout will be temporarily closed to traffic once more during the demonstration.
We strongly condemn any disturbances, obstruction of traffic and the setting off of fireworks during the demonstration. These have no place there.
We would like to get in touch in advance regarding the upcoming demonstrations so that we can work together to ensure they can take place safely, causing as little disruption as possible to local residents and to traffic in and around the neighbourhood.
