15 September 2026 is Democracy Day. Since 2022, the municipal council has marked this occasion every year. It has now even become a tradition, as part of Democracy Day, to invite the municipality’s residents to dine with the municipal council at the well-known ‘Burgers & Frietjes’ event. This year, we will be celebrating Democracy Day on Thursday 10 September, and once again everyone is warmly invited to join us for dinner at the town hall.
Since April, Apeldoorn has had a new town council with a significant number of new councillors and new party representatives, so this is a great opportunity to get to know them over some food and drink. During the meal, you’ll be seated at a table with the members of the municipal council and will have the chance to ask them all sorts of questions about their work as elected representatives.
On 10 September, there will be an opportunity not only to meet the new town council, but also the Youth Council. From 7.00 pm, during the Apeldoorn Political Market, they will be sharing all about their experiences and discussing the ten-point plan they have drawn up with visitors and the town council.
