A grant is an entitlement to money from the community. It is usually a one-off amount that you therefore have to apply for again and again. With that amount, the applicant makes a contribution to realise the municipality's established policy. For example, in the field of care and welfare, education, sports, art and culture, integration and recreation.
These may be organisations and facilities to which the municipality makes a financial contribution, such as sports clubs, the library or playgroups. Small-scale initiatives by residents or foundations are also supported if they fit within the policy.
Each type of grant has its own ‘rules of the game’. Such as the amount of the amount, how you apply for it and how you have to prove that you spent the money correctly.
The higher the amount, the more rules and checkpoints.
Through the ‘Energieke Activiteiten’ grant, we can provide you with financial support for activities that encourage your local community to become more energy-neutral. The grant is available to individual residents, but community initiatives – such as those organised by businesses – may also be eligible for this grant. The activity must be aimed at motivating, or be applicable to, a broad audience in Apeldoorn. Communication and inspiration are therefore the key pillars of every project. Some examples include:
- Setting up an energy team or organisation for your neighbourhood, village or town.
- Organising public (informative) events on topics such as energy saving, renewable energy or the collective purchase of solar panels.
- Organising activities to mark Sustainability Day.
- A study into the feasibility of collective energy storage.
The application and assessment process involves a number of steps:
- You can apply for the grant online using the button above.
- The council will assess your application within 6 weeks. If your grant application is successful, this will be a provisional decision. We will pay you the grant amount awarded as an advance.
- You may submit a claim within 6 weeks of carrying out the activity.
We will only finalise the grant once we have received the confirmation form from you. You can submit the confirmation form online. We may request repayment of any overpaid advance.
Application assessment
The council will assess whether your activity:
- is replicable/scalable: the experience or outcome of the activity can be utilised by other residents/businesses in Apeldoorn.
- is realistic/feasible:
- You will use the techniques available for this activity.
- It looks as though there will be enough staff and participants.
- There are sufficient other resources available.
- There is sufficient engagement and/or support amongst the residents of the municipality of Apeldoorn.
- is efficient: to what extent does the activity contribute to achieving the scheme’s objective in relation to the amount of the grant applied for?
What is the scheme not intended for?
Activities that do contribute to the energy transition but are not aimed at the general public in Apeldoorn are automatically excluded. This means that you cannot receive a grant under this scheme for, for example, insulating your own home or purchasing solar panels.

You will receive a grant of up to €2,500.00.
A minimum personal contribution of 50% applies. The personal contribution towards the costs of the activity may take the form of money or contributions in kind, such as the use of one’s own equipment, one’s own labour costs, free time or voluntary work.
