Refurbishment of Omnizorg on Stationsstraat

The municipality of Apeldoorn owns the property at Stationsstraat 30 and lets it to the Omnizorg Foundation. The municipality is carrying out extensive renovation and refurbishment work on the property. The building has persistent technical and structural defects that make living and working there difficult. Furthermore, refurbishment is desirable in order to provide better care and to improve the quality of life in and around the building. The aim is therefore to create a future-proof and fit-for-purpose building for Omnizorg.

The renovation

The exterior of Omnizorg will remain (largely) the same. Most of the refurbishment will take place inside the building. Inside, we are rectifying the technical and structural defects. We are also improving the ground-floor entrance. We are moving the porter’s lodge to the street side. At present, it is situated in the middle of the building, meaning it is not visible from the outside. On the second floor, we are converting the dormitories for the social care centre into single or double rooms. This will provide a more peaceful environment, is better for residents’ health and will help them get their lives back on track. On the third and fourth floors, we are renovating the units for supported living. In addition to these changes, the building is being made more sustainable.

The refurbishment is expected to take a year and a half. The medical care unit and launderette will remain open on Stationsstraat throughout the refurbishment.

Nuisance in the neighbourhood

We will, of course, do our best to minimise any disruption caused by the renovation work. For example, cranes and other equipment will be positioned within the cordoned-off construction site. However, we cannot always prevent you from experiencing some disruption. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
