Temporary Accommodation for Omnizorg Kanaal Noord

Omnizorg as a (temporary) good neighbour

The local council and Omnizorg aim to create a liveable, safe environment for all parties in and around Omnizorg’s temporary accommodation, whilst minimising disruption. That is why, at the end of 2025, we launched a series of regular neighbourhood meetings in Kanaal Noord. Together with a small group of local residents, the neighbourhood council, Omnizorg and its regular partners (the local council, enforcement agencies, the police and the neighbourhood council), we discuss what is happening in the neighbourhood so that we can pick up on any issues quickly and resolve any problems that may arise.

Ensuring safety and a good quality of life on the streets

The temporary accommodation is only accessible via the secure entrance. CCTV surveillance is in place at the entrance and inside the building. If a client causes a disturbance, the support staff intervene. They calm the clients down and engage them in conversation. Staff are present 24/7 in the temporary accommodation, including at night. Cooperation with the police and the local authority’s supervisory and enforcement officers is excellent.

Dealing with people who cause a nuisance

People who cause a disturbance are spoken to about it and arrangements are made. Omnizorg staff encourage clients to take part in activities, to stay in the designated reception areas and to make use of the communal areas. This is an attempt to prevent disturbances in public spaces. In the event of disturbances in public spaces, enforcement officers and the police may ask or order individuals to leave.
