Greater connection between residents

We are taking the following steps to strengthen the bonds between residents:

• The neighbourhood council organises local activities.
• We encourage residents to organise their own activities. We’re organising an inspiration evening featuring examples of initiatives.
• We would like to draw residents’ attention to the opportunity to submit ideas. This can be done via the suggestion box at Het Kristal and via samenzuidbroek.nl. The neighbourhood council and Stimenz can help develop ideas.
• The ‘Opladers’ project group, part of ‘Ouders Dichtbij’, is working on suitable activities for parents in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood council is helping to inform people about this.
• New sports and games activities are being introduced: the Binky Exercise Programme (0–3 years) and sports and games at Sporthal Zuidbroek (4–12 years). Accres will be announcing these activities.
• The neighbourhood social team’s meetings are resuming. At these meetings, neighbourhood professionals work together to promote social cohesion in the neighbourhood.
• We’d like to draw your attention to Makelpunt Apeldoorn. This is an online platform offering venues for events.

More socialising at Het Kristal

The community room at Het Kristal can be used for local residents’ activities, subject to agreement. We are also looking into whether the opening hours need to be adjusted.

A place of their own for young people

We make sure there is a place where young people can meet up and do things together:

• Young people will soon be welcome at the new youth centre for Apeldoorn-Noordoost. It is located at Aristotelesstraat 1005 in Sprenkelaar. We’ll discuss together how we can get them excited about this place.
• The activities at the youth centre focus on young people from Zuidbroek in particular.
• A year after it opened, we’ll assess whether the youth centre has proved popular with young people in Zuidbroek. If necessary, we can then look into other options.

The neighbourhood council is visible and accessible

The neighbourhood council is making its presence felt and making its voice heard:

• The neighbourhood council shares information about developments and activities via samenzuidbroek.nl and the WhatsApp groups. She also wants to start distributing a local newspaper.
• The neighbourhood council distributes posters and leaflets and attends coffee mornings. This ensures that residents who aren’t so active online are also kept up to date with what’s going on.
• Residents are very welcome to join the neighbourhood council and lend a hand.

Road Safety at Het Kristal

We’re looking at what can be done to make cycling and walking at Het Kristal safer:

• We are looking into whether the exit near the Plus supermarket can be made safer.
• We are taking measures to make dropping off and picking up children at schools safer. For example, we are looking into whether an additional zebra crossing could be installed opposite the schools.
• Cyclists are no longer allowed to cycle on the footpath in front of schools.

Safe neighbourhood

Residents can quickly report unsafe situations via the neighbourhood watch app. We are also running a trial with CCTV cameras in Park Zuidbroek. The cameras will be removed in the summer of 2026. We will then review the trial.

Less nuisance caused by ‘loitering youths’

To prevent nuisance, we are working to build a good relationship with young people. The neighbourhood council organises various activities for them. The police and enforcement officers also get involved, where possible. Furthermore, youth services, the neighbourhood council, the police and enforcement officers keep in touch with one another. This enables us to take swift action in the event of safety concerns or nuisance.

Additional pitches for caravan dwellers

The caravan site is to get twelve new pitches. We are also looking into whether expansion is possible in other areas.

Calm around the asylum seekers’ centre

We keep in touch with one another to ensure a pleasant and liveable neighbourhood around the asylum seekers’ centre. We use the liveability monitor to gauge how the neighbourhood perceives the area around the centre.

Involving local residents in Skaeve Huse

There has been discussion about the proposed development of Skaeve Huse (a form of supported housing) on Terwoldseweg. No decision has yet been taken on this matter. We are actively involving residents in this process. In the coming period, we will be assessing the quality of life in the area. We will take the findings into account when making our decision. We will also be holding discussions with residents who have raised concerns.

Lovely outdoor space

Residents have drawn up a plan to temporarily improve the area around the pond at the Vellertheuvel. We are working together to see how we can put this into practice.

Fewer floods in winter

During wet spells, there is a lot of standing water in some places. That is why we are going to widen the wadis and connect them to one another. We are also improving drainage. And we are mowing less frequently so that the ground is not compacted as much. This will allow the water to seep away more effectively.

Smoother traffic to and from Zuidbroek

We are looking at ways to improve traffic flow to and from Zuidbroek. The plan is to open up the bus lane and close the Anklaarseweg and the Laan van de Charleston. We are also investigating how to improve traffic flow to and from the Oost-Veluweweg/A50.

We are holding an information session on home batteries and electric car charging points.

Less heat stress in the neighbourhood

To prevent the neighbourhood from getting too hot during hot spells, we are planting more greenery:

• We are planting trees at various car parks in the neighbourhood (including Honingzwam and Vliegenzwam).
• We are replacing tiles/paving stones in a number of places with greenery (Icarus tree and heath blue butterfly).

Nijbroekseweg is safe for walkers and cyclists

Due to the traffic measures in Zuidbroek, Nijbroekseweg may become busier. If that happens, we will look into what is needed to make the road safer again for pedestrians and cyclists.

Further phasing out of Zuidbroek

Around 600 new homes are to be built in the southern part of Zuidbroek over the coming years.
