Apeldoorn’s role within Europe
By joining forces with businesses, organisations and residents from Apeldoorn, the wider region and other European cities and regions, we can launch innovative projects with the help of European funding, forge new links and exchange knowledge. This brings us one step closer to our shared goal.
To achieve this result, the municipality of Apeldoorn is represented in Brussels and participates in European networks. Apeldoorn also takes part in events to share knowledge and seek opportunities for cooperation. Under the banner of the Stedendriehoek Region, Apeldoorn is raising its profile on the European stage.
The municipality of Apeldoorn is actively committed to developing and implementing European projects. We do this in collaboration with the Stedendriehoek region, with the aim of achieving a clean future in which the economy and the environment go hand in hand. The Apeldoorn Stedendriehoek Region’s focus comprises the following priorities:
- Energy transition
- Circular Economy
- Climate change
We link these priorities to municipal challenges such as an emission-free city centre, making (municipal) property more sustainable, and Apeldoorn Energy Neutral. Our primary focus is on the Stedendriehoek Region’s themes: we will seize opportunities in other policy areas should specific opportunities arise.
Europe is all about cooperation
At regional level, Apeldoorn works together with partners from the Stedendriehoek Region and the Veluwe. To build momentum in Europe, Apeldoorn is promoting itself across a broad spectrum – from the Veluwe to the Stedendriehoek Region. The strong partners from the Stedendriehoek Region and the term ‘Stedendriehoek Region’ are generating a great deal of interest among other cities and regions, which increases the opportunity to join forces on European projects. When we mention the name ‘Veluwe’, the themes of climate, nature, biodiversity and tourism are of particular interest. To raise Apeldoorn’s profile and be at the forefront of new European opportunities and collaborations, Apeldoorn, together with partners from the Stedendriehoek Region and the Veluwe, participates in the European networks ERRIN (including energy), ACR+ (circular economy), Climate KIC (climate adaptation) and Europarc
How can the local council help?
Apeldoorn’s public affairs team is well-versed in European programmes such as Interreg NWE/Europe, the ERDF, LIFE+ and Horizon Europe. We can help you find the right direction for your project idea. The council can also draw on its European networks and contacts in the region if you are looking for partners to collaborate with. If you consider the municipality of Apeldoorn to be a relevant and suitable partner for your European project idea, the team can help you find the right colleague in the relevant policy department to explore potential collaboration.
In addition, if you are an SME business owner, you can make use of the services of East NL. Oost NL’s activities range from providing information to SMEs about EU programmes to reviewing project proposals and identifying, exploring and developing consortia.
