Space for living and working in a green, park-like setting. New forms of mobility play an important role in this plan. Cars are treated as guests, and through traffic is given less space within the city itself. This also calls for a vision on how we approach mobility in the city centre. What do the future plans mean for pedestrians, cyclists, car traffic, parking and public transport in the city?

We set out these topics in the new mobility vision. In it, we outline our vision for improving access to the city centre. This vision has been drawn up with input from our partners involved in the city centre.

What does the vision statement actually say?
A central tenet of the mobility vision is that people in the city centre should mainly get around on foot or by bicycle. It also stipulates that the city should be easily accessible by public transport. Furthermore, the city centre is also easily accessible by car, but motorists mainly park on the outskirts of the city centre, in multi-storey car parks. Cars are treated as ‘guests’ and are allocated less space within the city itself. Where possible, street-level parking (above ground) is being replaced by parking in high-quality multi-storey car parks. It will also be possible to transfer to other modes of transport in or near these car parks.
