Grants for Secondary Education

Learning to eat from a young age

‘Learning to Eat Young’ is a programme in which the government, local authorities, the education sector and community organisations work together. The aim? To give children and young people greater exposure to information and activities relating to food, so that they can make healthy and sustainable choices for themselves. Visit the website for inspiration and teaching materials jonglereneten.nl.

Healthy School

Would you like to make a healthy lifestyle the norm at school? If so, apply for the Healthy School support programme via Mijngezondeschool.nl. With the help of the support services and the Healthy School approach, your school can get off to a flying start with a health theme or take it to the next level! The Healthy School support programme is intended for all schools (sites) that provide state-funded education in primary education, special needs education, secondary education and vocational education (MBO) and that wish to make a healthy lifestyle at school the norm. For more information, visit Gezondeschool.nl.

EU School Fruit Scheme

The EU School Fruit Scheme encourages children to eat fruit and vegetables together in the classroom. Participating schools receive three portions of fruit and vegetables every week for all pupils for 20 weeks. And it’s completely free, thanks to funding from the European Union. Visit EUSchoolfruit.nl for more information.

School meals

Every child should be given the opportunity to develop to the best of their ability. Regardless of where they grow up or the income of their parents or carers. Primary and secondary schools with pupils from disadvantaged neighbourhoods can apply for a grant to provide a meal. In this way, the government aims to ensure that no child has to sit in class on an empty stomach. The Netherlands Nutrition Centre welcomes this initiative and can help schools to implement it in a healthy and sustainable way. For more information, visit schoolmeals.nl.
