Apeldoorn commemorates the plane crash at the Christelijke HBS 80 years on
On 7 October 1946, Apeldoorn was struck by one of the greatest disasters in the city’s post-war history. A military aircraft crashed into the Christelijke HBS on Jachtlaan. In the gym, 27 pupils from class 2C were taking part in PE. 22 boys lost their lives. The pilot of the aircraft also did not survive the crash. The air disaster left a deep impression on Apeldoorn. Even eighty years later, the memory lives on among the bereaved, survivors and those affected.
