The construction of the new Aquadoorn swimming pool has reached a significant milestone: the building’s highest point was achieved this week. Councillor Peter Messerschmidt and Roelof Wind, director of Wind Design + Build, marked the occasion with a symbolic push of a button in the 50-metre swimming pool.
A great deal of work has been completed since construction began in May 2025. The foundations are in place, the swimming pools have been concreted and partly tiled, and the upper floor slabs, along with a large proportion of the internal walls, have been completed. The timber trusses and façade columns are also in place, meaning the building is increasingly taking shape.

Work is currently underway on insulating the roof structure and fitting the glass façade frames. Once the glazing has been installed, work can continue indoors on the finishing and fitting out of the pools and other facilities. With the highest point now reached, the finishing phase has officially begun.

With the highest point now reached, Aquadoorn is another step closer to opening. I look forward to seeing local residents swimming, exercising and relaxing here in the near future.”
Aquadoorn will be a modern, multi-purpose swimming pool featuring, amongst other things, a 50-metre pool, a pool for specific user groups, a paddling pool and two family water slides. It is scheduled to open to the public in September 2027.
