Progress and planning
In 2021, the municipal council approved the proposal for the development of Beatrixlaan 301, including the plans and funding. The old building was demolished in early 2024. In June 2024, we organised an initial information evening. The aim of this evening was to inform local residents about the initial plans and to give them the opportunity to comment on them, ask questions and hear about the next steps and the timetable.
Following this evening, a focus group was set up with local residents. Through this group, we gather feedback and discuss the concerns and wishes of the local community. Since then, work has been carried out on the urban development plan, the visual quality plan, the environmental plan, the construction development and the design of public spaces.
In the spring of 2025, it became clear that the plans could not be implemented in the short term as previously intended. Due to stricter regulations on nitrogen, it is necessary to implement the current design in phases. The original intention was to build between 150 and 300 social housing units at this site. That ambition remains unchanged.
Together with the housing associations De Goede Woning and De Woonmensen, we are currently exploring how best to structure this phased approach. After all, the demand for housing – and social housing in particular – remains high. Our aim remains to eventually build around 300 homes at this site.
We expect to be able to provide more clarity on the options and next steps in the second half of 2026.
